How Quiapo's Hidalgo Camera Repair Shop Saved my DSLR

My hopes went up when I read his blog entry about this cheap camera repair shop along Hidalgo Street in Quiapo, Manila. His article was so detailed that even the contact numbers of the repair men were cited.
I tried my luck to contact them and ask if my Canon EOS 550D can be revived since it was soaked with water from the swimming pool two weeks ago. Three of them replied and responded positively. They wanted to check my camera first. I further inquired the estimated amount of their service. Unanimously, they told me it would cost 2,500 pesos. I think this price is not bad considering the value of a DSLR.
I was so positive to easily find their shop. They told me that 3-WAY Foto & Merchandising is located beside Island Photo Shop. I even googled my way there. From Gil Puyat Station, I bought a single entry ticket from LRT 1 Station going to Carriedo Station. From the exit, you turn left and cross the road towards SM Clearance Mall. Enter SM and go to the other side. Once you go out of the mall, go straight ahead to a street full of camera shops and camera repair shops. Again, this is a detailed way going to Hidalgo Street, the haven for SUPER CHEAP camera shops and camera repair shops. I can highly attest to this rather than buying cameras from malls and inquiring from prominent service centers.
As I walked along the street filled with sidewalk stores, I tiptoed to see the signage of each shop. After several steps away from the mall, I saw the Island Photo shop so I walked near it and finally, the photo above became realistic.
I was greeted by three people but originally two of them work there. I introduced myself as Tina from Batangas and eventually they said that they were waiting for me yesterday when I sent text messages to them.
They assessed my camera and I immediately told them that I already performed troubleshooting measures like using hair dryer and putting the camera inside the rice container. They laughed at me being so defensive but I could not help but let them feel that I really wanted my camera to be saved.
They told me to be back by 12:30 which was almost two hours of waiting but I insisted to wait. And after an hour, 12 noon to be exact, I heard my camera was already working. Kuya Eric (the one on the right side) said that the problem was on the motherboard which was soaked in water. Thanks God that I immediately brought it to them. Meanwhile, Kuya Jay-R (the one on the left side) volunteered to clean my lens but I declined to his offer since it would be too expensive for me to pay another 600 pesos considering my bus and jeepney fare going back to Batangas.
At the middle of our conversation, Kuya Eric asked how much money I have then. I honestly told them that I have 2,700 pesos budget for the camera repair. He lowered down his service price to 2,300 pesos and Kuya Jay-R's service to 400. So, I made the deal. They are my saviors! Thanks to them for reviving my camera. I will definitely recommend them to those who want their camera be fixed. They are very accommodating even through texts! Thanks to the Filipino Nomad for this information! Deletethankful ako sa kanila lalo na kay kuya eric kasi naayos niya yung lens ng dslr ko! kala ko di na maaayos pero he proved me wrong. buti na nga lg filter yung nabasag at hindi yung lens kasi medyo rare yung lens. anyway, i really recommend them kasi maganda na ang service and accomodating pa. babalikan ko talaga yung shop nila if ever may problema uli sa dslr ko. thank u uli kuya Eric!!

I recently visited this shop last Thursday (May 4). I went inside the shop at exactly 5pm. And the shop was already closing but kuya Eric was kind enough to check and repair my 2 lens in a very pocket friendly price. I couldn't thank him enough for saving my 2 lens. Thank you kuya! DeleteI was searching the net for a reliable shop that can check and fix my DLSR Nikon 5100 and found this blog. So i headed to Quiapo last Friday and was happy with the service and the price was also reasonable. Thank you Eric and another Kuya did not get the name thou. DeleteI was having problem with my Nikon D3100's LCD as it was vignetting. Luckily i found this blog entry and contacted Sir Eric via Ms. Anfriel Prado's comment with his number. DeleteAfter I read this blog and the comments, I decided to repair my camera at 3 Way Foto. Sir Eric is such a nice person and expert on cameras. There was a problem on my camera's filter sensor and he was able to look for parts to replace my faulty filter sensor. My camera works perfectly! . I was so happy I made the right decision. DeleteBest camera repair center. My zoom lens got damaged, so I decided na pumunta sa place nila and papacheck ko muna kasi wala pa sahod. Sabi ni Sir Eric 1,500 po and sabi ko budget ko lang is 1,200 pumayag po sila. And very accomodating po sila. No regrets na nagpagawa po ako sa kanila. Super thank you po sa service

ReplyDeleteI was looking for camera shop sa hidalgo. I found this place and ask if they could clean my camera (body) and lens. Kuya Eric offered to clean my camera sensor for a low price lang. Then after 1 hour tapos na siya linisin. The sun was so bright that day so I can't figure it out kung nalinis naba siya ng tuluyan pag nagcacapture ako diko macheck images. At home, I'd checked if the dust was already removed but no. Nandoon pad in siya. I'm sharing this not because gusto ko silang siraan. Tinawagan ko si kuya Eric and sabi niya ibalik ko nalang daw. I hope na pagbinalik ko ito ay malinis na siya.
