South Korea Day 2: Be a Kid in Everland, a fan in K-Star Road and a foodie in Cheonho Pojang Macha
Travel to South Korea Bucket List Goals (Day 2)
I never got the chance to see the largest theme park in South Korea when I visited three years ago since it was far from the place where I stayed. I only went to Lotte World which is mostly an indoor kind of theme park.
That is why I made it on point to see it on our second day in South Korea. However, we woke up late due to body pains from our first day high. We were supposed to be out of the house at 6:00 am which later became 9:00 am. When we were about to cross the highway, Bus 3313 was already at the bus stop and was about to leave. Unfortunately, we have to wait for another 30 minutes to board the same bus. And after more than an hour, we successfully arrived at Yongin. After the bus ride, tourists have to ride the shuttle bus going to Everland for free. At 11 am, we went inside the park. Foreigners have discounts and we availed a 30% discount (36,000 from 52,000 worth of ticket) because we showed our Jeju Air boarding passes along with our passports.
Upon entrance, we already spotted the place where the famous hologram concert of G-Dragon is shown. It was long time ago that Psy and 2ne1 were also part of this.
We immediately secured tickets for GD's concert amount to discounted price of 3,000 won. And after that, we entered the photo booth wherein Bigbang is the main feature. To much surprise, the cost of every printed photo is 5,000 Korean won.We did not waste time and we posed with GD of course.
While waiting for the 2:30 hologram concert, we decided to roam around Everland. We thought we will be able to see tulips, but during our visit, it was Rose Festival then.
There is Line Store where you can pose with Line Friends and even shop different kinds of memorabilia.
We entered the Rose Garden and we were astonished by its beauty.
It was not summer time yet in South Korea but we enjoyed playing with the in-ground water fountain. We were relieved by the cooling effect of our wet clothes.
Another attraction next to Rose Garden is the Shakespeare Rose Garden that was created to mark the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare.
This is the Flower Magic Tower which is 26 meter tower covered with variously colored flowers. Most of the Instagram users who visited the place took a photo with it as background and we're no exception.
There is this new Garden Terrace where you can imagine Greece for a while. The falls flowing from the columns plus the statue added some unique feels.
Most theme parks have the same rides. We wanted to ride those that we haven't tried in the Philippines. We came across with Sky Way where we enjoyed travel via cable in open-air.
The short travel also brought us closer to the entrance area. It was about time to watch the Hologram Concert of G-Dragon. There were less than twenty people who lined up for this. Before choosing our place to watch, we were asked to take a photo. We were clueless with the reason behind this.
We were front liners. Suddenly, the concert began leaving us amused with the hologram effects. It was as if GD was really there when Heartbreaker played.
When the song ended, text graphics were shown. I felt shivers on my skin when my most favorite song of GD played. Then, I saw my photo flashed on screen. Our photos were part of the introductory story of "Who You".
My eyes were focused on the presentation when suddenly my sister's photos were selected by GD as the one he picked for his concert performance.
By this time, my sister stood at the other corner of the concert area. She transformed into a hologram image to dance with GD on stage. She's indeed a lucky fan.
My sister was not that happy after her performance when I apologized that I was not able to have a full coverage of her dance with GD. Our GoPro died while I watch her perform. When we got back in the Philippines, I discovered that I was able to save a minute of her dance which I will be showing in our vlog.
I enjoyed the rest of the hologram concert. Afterwards, we went again in this photo booth and again played with it. We felt that we're so close to GD.
We roamed again and made our way to the Sky Cruise which is a cable car traveling in a short distance.
We also tried the new VR Adventure with Samsung Gear VR and the motion chair where we go the thrill of virtually experiencing T-Express.
Another new attraction in Everland is the Panda World. It is Korea's only exhibition hall that incorporates advanced IT, where tourists cannot only view but also experience panda.
On our way up, we hopped into this to flat escalator to save some energy to go elsewhere before home.
We took some shots overlooking the theme park as well as the Magic Tree.
When we went outside Everland, we immediately boarded the shuttle going to the bus terminal. And since it was only 5 pm, we decided to go to Gangnam. And to our surprise, nonstop buses were easily filled and long lines of tourists were waiting. We successfully rode the bus after an hour. This was the third bus since we arrived with numerous tourists ahead of us.
With simple Korean words and hand gestures, we found our way to the Gangnam Station and we did not miss taking a souvenir photo.
From the Line 2 Gangnam Station, we transferred to Bundang Line to reach Apgujeong Rodeo Station. From Exit 2, we easily spotted the Gangnamdols of several K-Pop Icons like Super Junior, Shinee, Miss A, CNBlue and Girls Generation.
We turned left at the end of the gangnamdol display and finally saw JYP Building.
From the Apgujeong Rodeo Station, we made some transfers to reach Line 3 Sinsa Station. On Exit 8, we traced our way towards the branch of Moonshot. We came late since the store was already closed.
And before heading back home, we took a photo at the Line Friends Cafe and Store which is located near Moonshot.
To much amusement, we got addicted to Song Joong Ki standees and took photos with him of course.
We were so worried then since we have a 10 pm schedule to meet some Pinays in Cheonho. After several subway transfers, we arrived at Line 8 Cheonho station by 11pm. We were welcomed warmly by our new friends. There was instant connection that we did not need further introductions. They are the Pinays who worked in South Korea by more than 10 years and met their love of their life there. They made us feel that we came in the right place. Laughter and stories filled the pojang macha owned by Ate Grace. She even told us that there are times that Korean celebrities visit her place. We got so excited since we only see this kind of drinking place in Korean dramas and finally we also experienced it along with friends who let us taste the Filipino-Korean fusion dishes and also drink some wine and soju.
Our second day ended fruitfully. Thanks to new adventures and friends. Please take your time to read my other updates.
