Winter in Korea Day 3: Elysian Ski Resort, Bok Chicken, And.Here Cafe and Maronnier Park

IMG_1401

Winter escapade is not complete without skiing. We made sure that we will experience it during our planning. I opted to go to the nearest ski resort that is accessible by subway. And through blogs, I found out that Elysian Ski Resort can be reached if we alight from Baegyang-ri station and wait for the free shuttle bus to the ski house.

On this spot, we waited for five minutes before a shuttle arrived.

And for another five minutes, we were at the ski house. We went directly to the ticket booth to buy tickets for our suits (21,600 won for 2 pairs) and ski rental (15,600). We spent 37,200 won since we only rented one pair of ski. We used our Korea Grand Sale discount coupon to obtain the 40% discount. It's practical for beginners. I told my sister that we will share since our priority was photos then experience.  We did not buy lift pass since we did not use the steep parts for skiing.

We also used a locker worth 1,000 won. You have to change the paper bill into coin using this machine before putting the coin inside the locker.

We went on separate sections for ski rental, one for the suit and the other one for the ski itself. You have to fill out the form especially on the ski rental corresponding your name, height, shoe size and identification number. As to the suit, you have to say your size so they can give you appropriate suit.

We were lucky that there were few tourists since it's still early.

I was first to try, A Korean ski instructor helped me with my shoes and ski so I quickly learned from him so I can help my sister afterwards.

We're so satisfied with our experience here. We're proud to say that we learned ski by watching Korean dramas particularly Legend of the Blue Sea.

The mural on the wall reminded me of a fan account wherein a university student saw Lee Sung-kyung and Lee Jong-suk filming for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.

For our dinner, we decided to go to And.Here Cafe owned by the mother of Seungri. However, it was closed since it's Seollal on the day after. It's near Hyehwa Station, Exit 1.

Going back to the station, we watched some busking events in memory of Sewol victims.

IMG_1490

Little did we know that we're walking on the Maronnier Park. We did not go to the Naksan Park and Ihwa Mural Village since it was already dark.

IMG_1491

We went home for this. We bought instant rice with spicy soup in 711 to match the chicken, yogurt and fruits to celebrate Seollal on our own ways before going to sleep and prepare for the third day.
